Andover Senior Center – Life Floor Installation
Project Description
Concrete Science installed 2,339 square feet of 3/8-inch Life Floor Slate safety surfacing at the Andover Senior Center aquatic facility as a subcontractor to Horizon Pools.
The installation was designed to improve traction, comfort, and accessibility throughout the pool deck while creating a durable and visually coordinated finished surface for seniors, staff, and aquatic facility users.
Problems Solved
- Comprehensive shot-blast surface preparation to achieve the optimal profile and adhesion on hard-troweled concrete
- Strategic cleaning and filling of all saw cuts to create a monolithic coating system without joints or seams
- Precise multi-coat application to ensure a consistent, uniform finish across the entire facility floor
- Installation of a durable epoxy system designed for high-traffic, hygiene-sensitive manufacturing environments

Scope of Work
Our installation scope included:
- Flooring layout and pattern coordination
- Precision cutting and fitting around drains, fixtures, penetrations, and perimeter transitions
- Manufacturer-approved adhesive application
- Full installation of the Life Floor system
- Tight seam fitting and finishing
- Final inspection and quality-control review
- Substrate preparation was completed prior to installation. Caulking was not included in Concrete Science’s scope.
