Spartan Pride Shines: Nashwauk-Keewatin’s New School Gets a Durable, Modern Makeover

The Nashwauk-Keewatin School District engaged with Concrete Science for its flooring needs associated with its new 130,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art school designed by DSGW Architects and managed by ICS. The building consolidates features custom epoxy flooring in hallways, classrooms, labs, cafeteria, and the community wellness center. Epoxy was chosen for its durability, safety, low maintenance, and design flexibility, with community feedback gathered through multiple meetings and surveys supporting the move toward modern construction and sustainable materials. Installation finished in early August 2025 featuring a multi-phase process: surface preparation, multi-layer epoxy application, and a protective topcoat for stain, chemical, and UV resistance. The flooring enhances safety with slip resistance, supports hygiene through its seamless design, and reduces long-term maintenance costs. Its vibrant, customizable look fosters school pride, while its longevity and efficiency align with the district’s sustainability goals.
