Strength and Style: A Vision for a Double-Broadcast Quartz Pool Deck
Project Description
In summer 2025, the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District partnered with Concrete Science to renovate the Hidden Oaks Middle School pool deck. The project involved assessing the old concrete deck for damage, removing the old quartz application, and addressing underlying issues like moisture. A moisture vapor barrier primer was applied, then a durable, non-slip quartz deck was installed for safety and UV resistance. The deck was sealed with polyaspartic to ensure chemical resistance and an appropriate grip mechanism for ADA-compliant accessibility features. Rigorous safety testing on the installed system ensured compliance with slip resistance, load-bearing, and moisture resistance. Completed for the 2025–26 school year, the upgraded deck enhances safety and functionality for students and the community.
