Upgrading from Quarry Tile to Epoxy Urethane, a Mechanical Renovation

Cornerstone Chevrolet in Monticello, MN, recently underwent a significant flooring renovation to enhance the functionality and aesthetics of their service center. The project involved removing outdated ceramic tile flooring and replacing it with a modern, durable epoxy and urethane coating system. This transformation not only revitalized the space but also improved its performance for a high-traffic commercial environment.

Concrete Science worked with our manufacturer, Citadel-Rust-Oleum, to implement a durable resinous epoxy quartz application. The project required extensive removal equipment to remove the former tile floor followed by diamond grinding a thick mortar layer. Final application was a 4-step process of epoxy and sand broadcasts (over 7,000 lbs) with a grout coat of epoxy and a final urethane topcoat for chemical resistance. This new system provides a facelift for the space and much needed abrasion and chemical resistance for the primary use of the location.
