When you’re choosing a garage floor coating contractor, it’s important to have all the facts. Concrete Science’s team of skilled installation technicians are happy to explain the process, but we’ve included a step-by-step guide here so that you know just what to expect if you choose to work with us:

  1. Each installation has a dedicated job foreman, who will meet with you and go over the steps in the process.
  2. Safety cones and necessary signs are put into place.
  3. Equipment for the installation is set up, and appropriate cleaning agents begin to be applied.
  4. If there is any contamination from oil spills and chemicals on the floor we would decontaminate the surface before with a high-pressure cleaning and degreaser to assure better bonding.
  5. The concrete is mechanically diamond ground to prepare it for the epoxy. This step “opens” the concrete, and ensures that the epoxy binds tightly to the surface.
  6. After grinding is complete, the entire floor is cleaned again.
  7. All cracks, holes, or other defects in the cement will be repaired with an elastomeric sealer to create a smooth, level surface.
  8. Tape and masking will be applied to protect the surrounding areas.
  9. The first coat of epoxy is applied per manufacturers’ specifications (proper flake or granule broadcasting will also be applied, if applicable).
  10. The next day, any broadcast material that did not bond will be recovered, and another coat of epoxy will be applied for a finished floor.
  11. Any tape masking is removed and properly disposed of before or after applying the finishing polyaspartic top coat.
